The Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist

The Nativity of St. John the Baptist

Yes, this is a great feast day, celebrated by some as those SSPX with a huge bonfire! St John B is also the great patron, of all things the Freemasons! Each lodge has a John the Baptist celebration on June 24th, extolling his firey preaching and concerns about the affairs of state. Actually it is more in keeping with the summer solstice being so near to the feast. Why he is patron of the Masons is a mystery even to the masons themselves! John the Baptist was indeed a saint for all time...and his earthly reward...a severed head not unlike the practice in Iraq. Perhaps he should be named the patron of the War too. Thank God for such a great saint who is an example to all! If only the 'others' would accept what he preached and not just his 'personality'.
