The Holy Father visits the St. Bernards

I had been looking for this picture since I first read yesterday that the Holy Father had crossed the border into Switzerland to visit the Kennels of the Augustinian Fathers where the St. Bernard dogs have been raised for 100s of years.

As the owner of this breed of gentle giant I have to say there is no better nor more loyal dog.

My thanks to the blog In Nomine Domini.

What? What a cop out... I know you are constantly complaining about those beasts, the slobbering, the shedding, the wrestling w/ Teddy. Now, there is a picture of the Pope w/ a St. Bernard and now your sooo happy to have one...I'm dissappointed. You don't like those dogs...

Hey,Disappointed in Delaware...aren't there any upcoming blessed events in your life?? Maybe YOU need such a dog...one for each of your kids... slobbering beasts are not so bad. And, they chase away the neighbors!
Dogless in NC.

Our Saint doesn't slobber but most of them do.
