I don't think that this is the real veil. If Jesus had wiped his face wouldn't he have closed his eyes?. And aren't the details a little to intricate?. Have the scientist determined what made the image? I hate to be a cynic, but then someone has to be.
Speaking as an artist, this image is very, very two dimensional. Not what you would expect to find from the pressing of a three dimensional image onto a cloth. Additionally, where's the crown, the blood stains, and the evidence of a bruised and swollen face?
